Amazon Bestsellers Scraper + AI: Rising Products Only on the Apify Store →
Tutorial for the Apify blog guest program, dev.to, Medium and Hashnode — drafted from the listing; the owner publishes it and records the URL in brief.json → marketing.links.
If you source for Amazon FBA or private label, you probably start the same way: open the Best Sellers page of your category, then Movers & Shakers, then New Releases, and scroll. A list shows 50 products, two pages make the top 100, and every list is a different tab. Then you judge each product by hand: is it climbing, how many reviews does the leader have, is the price in a workable band, is the title a big brand, is it a supplement that needs compliance work?
That takes about six minutes per product, so a hundred products is ten hours — and next week the lists have moved, so you start again, with no memory of what you already looked at. The raw scrapers on the Apify Store save the copy-paste but not the judging: the Amazon Bestsellers Scraper returns the top 100 rows at $0.002 each plus a start fee, junk included, one row per list appearance, and every run is a snapshot.
1. Click Try it. The Actor's form is pre-filled with seven sample list rows (storage-example/INPUT.json), so the first run costs nothing and takes a fraction of a second. You get five qualified products: a silicone-lid set that is rank 3 on Movers & Shakers and rank 18 on Best Sellers (one merged row, up 14 ranks since the last run, 412 reviews), a dog travel bowl that is a new release with 38 reviews, a bamboo cutting board from amazon.de priced 24,95 € (parsed to 24.95 EUR) and so on. The Apple earbuds with 98,214 reviews and a brand in the title score below the bar and never reach you.
2. Point it at your category. Paste one or more Amazon list URLs — for example https://www.amazon.com/gp/movers-and-shakers/kitchen and https://www.amazon.com/gp/new-releases/kitchen — into "Amazon list or category URLs", or leave the field empty and type your goal ("private-label kitchen gadgets under $30"): the Actor picks the matching departments and scans their Movers & Shakers and New Releases lists. Set "Maximum reviews (the barrier)" to what a new listing can beat, say 1,500, and press Start. The Actor runs the Amazon Bestsellers Scraper on your own Apify account, capped by "Max source spend" ($0.50 by default).
3. Read the Shortlist view. Rows come best first: rank, rank change, reviews, price, the lists the product is on, a pursue / watch / skip verdict and risk flags such as brand_locked, commodity or regulated. Switch on the AI tier and each row also carries a demand note, a competition note, a differentiation angle taken from the title wording and a niche label — all built only from the row's own figures; the model is told it knows no sales or revenue and a sentence that quotes an invented number is dropped.
4. Export or forward. Export the dataset to CSV or Excel, open the "Sourcing sheet" view for your sourcing spreadsheet, or forward the REPORT page to a client.
A typical run scans 300 rows and qualifies about 45 (15 %). The source scan costs $0.60 on your account (300 × $0.002). With AI off you pay $0.008 per qualified product here — $0.45 — for $1.05 in total; with AI on it is $0.04 per product plus about $0.001 of tokens — $2.45 in total, about $0.054 per qualified product. Products that fail your filters cost nothing here, there is no start fee, and the first 25 qualified products are free.
Open the saved task after your first real run, click Schedule and put your address in notifyEmail. The Actor remembers every product it delivered and its rank, so next week only products that are new or climbing are delivered and charged — a weekly cost of roughly $0.90 for five lists of 50 rows (an estimate until a scheduled run measures it). From Python:
from apify_client import ApifyClient
client = ApifyClient("<YOUR_API_TOKEN>")
run = client.actor("<your-apify-username>/amazon-product-finder-ai").call(
run_input={
"sourceMode": "actor",
"categoryUrls": ["https://www.amazon.com/gp/movers-and-shakers/kitchen"],
"goalDescription": "Kitchen gadgets a new private-label listing can beat",
"maxReviews": 1500, "maxQualified": 50, "maxDiscoveryChargeUsd": 0.5,
},
timeout_secs=3600,
)
for item in client.dataset(run["defaultDatasetId"]).iterate_items():
print(item["name"], item["score"], item["verdict"], item["url"])
The Actor does not estimate sales or revenue — it ranks what to look at first. Start with the free demo, then your own category.
